Plate No. 59 from the Folio Collection of prints from the Frycinet voyage. This archival reproduction of the original 1819 print in our collection includes inset maps of Rota Saipan and Tinian. The intent of the map by officer DuPerry is to also show the ancient names and sites on the island described in the the book, Account of the L 'Uranie. It is amazingly accurate. Alonso Lopez Et Le Memoire di P.Morales Jesuites Espagnols Missionaires dans ces Isles. Par le Sr. Bellin Ingr. de la Marine 1752." Paris 1762. Colored. Attractive chart shows the Mariana Islands with a fine depiction in an inset of Guam with its harbors, rivers, elevations. Title is in a decorative cartouche with scroll motif, Large compass rose in center.
